In the markets, we can commonly find powder incense, stick incense and dish incense. After we open an incense package, we should store the rest of incense in air-tight containers. If desiccants are enclosed in the packages, we have to remove them after opening, for the desiccants can absorb the moisture in the air and therefore humidify the incense if they still stay in the packages.
Each kind of incense has its own properties, functions, and scents. As a consequence, do not mix different kinds of incense and store them in the same containers. Different kinds of incense should be kept apart and dry. The containers for incense have to be clean and free of any smell.
Last but not least, avoid placing incense in hot, humid, scented environment and do not expose incense to sunlight. In case there is moisture or mold in the incense products, it can be difficult to ignite the incense or the incense can go out itself in the burning process. To sum up, preserve all kinds of incense with care to maintain all their unique properties.
